The
Studio - Phase 4
Another
Brick in the Wall
Walls Walls Walls, lots of walls this week. Stevie has been
hard at work pining away at the walls, putting in pine here
and wallboard there. This
is also the week of the windows, as two of the three main windows
have now been installed. Check it out...

|
Tom
has become Steve's primary sidekick in the construction, as
it seems he has no other discernable hobbies and he enjoys
housework. Here he is vacuuming underneath Mike's ATAA (All
Terrain Armored Ampeg)
|
| |
And
the team struts in (Cue: Bad to the Bone). I imagine this is
the way it looked when Batman and Robin first walked into the
as yet incomplete Batcave, before the Batcomputer and Batpoles
were installed, and then there were the Bat Massage tables,
BatJaccuzi and Batshower, but that's a story for another time. |
|
Here's
a shot of "Greg's Gulch", the area where Greg spends
his time at rehearsal, which is to the left of "Paul's
Party Plateau", which is right behind the B3, tastefully
hidden beneath a light floral print and our antique boombox
collection.
|
|
Your
first look at our spiffy new window, mounted in the spiffy
new wall. You can actually see both spiffy new windows here,
the other one is the small rectangle behind the ever so modestly
spiffy B3. Since our equipment was out of the room this week,
you can even see our spiffy rug. Spiffy, huh?
|
|
Now,
here we look into the Super-Reflect-o-room. The new window
is on the right. See how it angles? See how the inner one
angles the other way? That is just sooo cool!! There is supposedly
a technical reason for this, but it's also possible that someone
is pulling our leg.
|
| |
The
tools of the trade. I see a drill, saw, hammer, duct tape,
bags... hey, no beer? I know there is beer someplace. Oh yeah,
the beer is in the fridge! Silly me.
|
|
Now
here is something we have not yet discussed. In the control
room, we had this unused space which sits beneath the chimney
upstairs. Why is it there? Who the hell knows, but we will
be using it as a sort of vocal booth.
|
|
Ahhh
yes, the heart of the sunrise, the cream of the crop, the earth
in our geocentric universe. This is approximately where the
mixer will go. Can't wait to get that thing hooked up, especially
as it's not even certain that it works... |
|
And
here is the snack bar, The snack shelf has yet to be stocked
with goodies, but oh boy, when it is!... yumm! |
|
And
here is the new main window. You can see two reflections of
the flash one at the bottom and one at the top because there
are actually two panes of glass here, at opposite angles to
each other. Again, what is the reason for this? It has something
to do with both room acoustics and also with transmission of
sound through the glass, but I just think it looks cool. It
would also make a real interesting aquarium. |
|
And
finally, this is the same window as above, but shot without
the flash so you can get some idea of both the color of the
wood and what the ambience of the room might be like when it's
done. Of course, a ceiling will be going in and track lighting,
and eventually the Bat Jacuzzi. |

it for this week, be sure to keep tuning in for more studio
